Leave it to the French

Being a big fan of model Agyness Deyn (my current favorite), I'm interested in a lot of her modeling campaigns as she's a great chameleon. You may have seen her as she's the face of Jean Paul Gaultier's perfume, Madame, and you can actually see her modeling for various high-end brands.

She has nothing to do with this post, but whenever I think of Jean Paul Gaultier I end up thinking of her and the simple campaign for the perfume. I wanted to share some images I saw on Rock the Trend from a French newspaper called Les Echos.

The images feature another one of Gaultier's muse, model Coco Rocha, and the shoot was styled by Jean Paul Gaultier, photographed by Sophie Delaporte.

I'm not a fashionista nor an artist, but I love love love these images! They look like paintings and have that Marie Antoinette feel to them, but at the same time they look so modern and cutting edge....gorgeous!

My Little Square Plot of Land

Having moved into my own place (for the first time ever), I've only just begun decorating after already living there for over a month. Granted I am renting and so I can't make any major adjustments, it's so exciting to have my little own plot of land, a big square, to make interesting.

Making my first brave step, Mr. R helped, scratch that, painted the whole place, while I made doodles on the wall. I chose a shade of green called "Rejuvenate", which is a pale shade of olive green.

With my experience being an HGTV fanatic, I thought I had it all down when it came to decorating, but it's so much harder than I had imagined, especially when I'm limited to a color palette that will go with my wall color.

I'm a big fan of apartmenttherapy and I love how this room has that simple, clean look that I love, but shows character through it's bold colorful accent pieces. I LOVE that aqua-cyan art piece and red chandelier for this place, they add a sense of youth to the rest of the maturely designed home. I love love love how there is a distinction of style and design between the sleeping area and the living area, even though everything is in one big room. And I must admit, I'm always impressed with animal-print that is well used, although I really hope that's faux fur (for the PETA in me).

Because I live in a studio, I'm also very limited with space and am trying to stay away from gaudy, superfluous decorations. I'm a big fan of simplicity with hints of boldness so I'm trying to go for that feel. I had first imagined decorating my place to look something similar to that of what you see when walking into Dior or Chanel, but I'm sad to say, white furniture everywhere means more places for my pomeranian to mark up and make ugly.

I'm still picking up pieces here and there and trying to find good, and affordable ideas for decorating. Please share your ideas! I love hearing creative ways to make a small place not look cluttered but still full of character!

Hopefully when I'm finished, or at least far along, I can proudly post up images from my own room!

My Boyfriend, the Non-Cheating, Non-Chain-Smoking "Mad Men"

Just wanted to give a little lovin' to the boyfriend, Mr. R...

Although a painter and "artiste" at heart, Mr. R is actually also a very talented graphic designer and art director at a prestigious advertising agency in Los Angeles. His finish for an upcoming History Channel show can be seen on the streets of NYC!

I love how they incorporated the advertisement onto different segments of the building. If you look closely, it's actually one piece that is continued on each segment.
If you're in New York, please make sure nobody vandalizes it please! =)

Serenity and Bliss

I've recently been introduced to the world of wedding-blogs and wedding-photography blogs, and I would LOVE to get married, just for the photos!

Some of my favorite pictures, courtesy of the gorgeous couple, Kelly & Chris, from Erin Hearts Court's blog.

I love how the photos capture both serenity and bliss...the images look so ethereal

"Yes I AM Going through Menopause!"

As I've recently found a fellow close friend in the blogosphere, I've become enthusiastic about this whole new world, and to be honest, I've become obsessed overnight! ha!

....and I thought I'd start the day with the cutest, most clever little thing ever!...it's my Muffin Top of the Day!

|| fellow blogosphere friend, i used 'via' like you taught me! *wink wink* ||

I absolutely LOVE this tag which can be purchased at popptags, along with some other very witty ones. It totally reminds me of a commercial I saw, where the most "Madmen-looking-housewife" in her fancy 50's attire waters a plant with a huge smile saying, "Yes, I AM going through menopause!" ....as thoughtfulday puts it "humor combined with sophisticated design"! Love it!

"Art is Recession Proof"

With this beautiful May weather, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to do something "cultured". Although I excuse my daily walks with Toby the pomeranian to the LACMA park as being "cultural", I thought a dose of art at Deliciously Uncivilized's, "Art is Recession Proof" would do me good. It also helps that Mr. R, the boyfriend, was showing one of his pieces at the show.

Of course, hands down, I am a fan of Mr. R's art, *wink wink*, but I must say some pieces by artist Adam Alaniz, caught my eye as well.

Here are some of my favorites (not shown at the show)

"Flowers"

"To The Sea"

"Someone is Calling"

The details, and the organic lines, going about as they wish make me feel like the paintings are dancing. I love the color palettes that he incorporates into his paintings; creating a childlike, imaginative world, giving you a gleeful moment away from reality.

Pictures from the show to come....

The Love of a Mother

Happy Mother's Day All!....May all the mothers of the world be blessed for their love, the many sacrifices they've made, and for the dedication towards their children.

Although the day to day things my mother does, such as calling me to update me on random news and information (i.e. that pomegranate increases bust size....), the way she ALWAYS laughs at my jokes and her funny expression when I do something crazy (she looks at me like a I'm a lunatic, which I find hilarious)....there's an event that I don't remember happening, but I am reminded of through a scar.

As a baby, I had been stricken with the flu, as many children are, but it had led to dehydration and consequentially, a seizure. My mother, afraid of having me bite my tongue, from the convulsions, and bleeding to death, voluntarily, and with love, stuck her poor finger into my mouth (in which my brand new, sharp baby teeth had just grown in). I hate imagining the pain she must have endured until the ambulance came, finding not only one, but two persons to treat; as my mother's finger had been chewed up raw.

As a sacrificial act of love, I know my mother would do it over and over, if it meant to save her child's life. For this and for all the acts of kindess she shows everyday, I am blessed and can happily say, Happy Mother's Day! <3

Don't forget to give your mother a HUGE hug and a kiss!

Mmmm....Muffin Tops!

What better invention can come about in the 21st century, than the creation of muffin tops! No, I'm not talking about the flab that hangs over your jeans after the holidays!

I think one of the best ways to start my morning is with hot lemon tea and a beautifully sculpted plump muffin top sans the flat, unexciting excess. The only way I eat the rest of the muffin is by imagining my mother telling me about the "starving children in Somalia"....

Thus I begin my blog, an outlet to share all my "muffin to
ps", and the like....the random nothings that make me smile!

Today I start with what more than.... tissues! As mundane and simple they may seem.....

Allergy season has now hit! How would we survive wit
hout the simple tissue? Yes, there are other tools to be used....but nothing better than a tissue! While at work today, a string of cat hairs (yes there are cats in the office) tornado-ed up my nose (I promise it really formed into a tornado first) and I was the victim of the unfortunate case of a missing tissue box (I blame it on the cats). Searching high and low, I resorted to using a piece of paper towel, and it was not very pleasant!

Some may say I am spoiled, which I agree...but a tissue would have be
en nice. So here is an ode to "Kleenex"

The world without tissues....

Did you know...

"The material from which Kleenex is made was originally called, "Cellucotton," and was designed by Kimberly-Clark during World War I. It came to be used in gas mask filters during the war as a replacement for cotton, which was in high demand for use as a surgical dressing."

-as stated by my best friend, Wikipedia

Can you imagine if they decided to name it "Cellucotton"....

"Achoo!! ....Can you please pass the box of celucottons?..."

Happy Thursday! Savor Your Tissues!
